Angus is a one of the 32 local government council areas of Scotland, a registration county and a lieutenancy area in the East of Scotland. It covers an area of 540,352 acres (2,187 square km) and has a population of 97,312 people, giving a population density of 0.18 people per acre (45 people per square km).
